Manifestation & Abundance, Spiritual Growth

A Space to work from.

Today is a really good day. Today, August 8th, 2022, not only opens the Lions portal for potent manifestation. It also marks the green light to begin renovations on my new Healing Studio. I launched this wellness journey in 2009 when I started offering mobile aromatherapy healing sessions in clients’ bedrooms across Doha, Qatar. I hauled a foldable massage bed and 50-kilogram roller bag filled with towels, oils, and music up and down endless staircases to treat residents in their preferred upstairs quarters. After witnessing a traumatic accident nearly a year later. I then decided to cease driving and in-home services. Instead, I carved out my first tiny treatment room tucked behind a cupboard in my rented villa’s expansive dining area, dividing the space to establish an intimate healing nook. A small space to work from It didn’t take long for this arrangement to become uncomfortable. With more clients finding me, it was time to move. The next villa I moved to then, had a cosy little room outside with adjacent bathroom/laundry. It worked very well as a healing room. This space had its issues but overall, my young practice flourished. I could take clients at any time without disturbance to the members of my household. With more privacy and a little bit of glitter, women from all nationalities found me to assist them on their healing journeys. It was while working in this space that I continued my studies in Tibetan sound healing. I then offered sessions anywhere and everywhere – mostly for free, as I didn’t have a suitable space to welcome clients. After I had to undergo major surgery, the healing room became lodgings for a lady who looked after me for a while. When I recuperated enough to work, she stayed on in the room, while I opened my practice again. This time, from one of the upstairs bedrooms in the villa. This space was not optimal and once again I was bound by household issues and timings. My once flourishing practice had to start over. I struggled to find clients and it seemed as though my time in the Middle East was coming to an end. Returing back to South Africa Soon, we were heading back to South Africa and after a two-year hiatus period from the expat life, I returned to Qatar in 2018. While in South Africa, I continued to offer guided meditations and sound therapies whenever and wherever anybody would have me. The gipsy healer is a nickname I obtained during this time. I didn’t offer any oil or reflex work as I simply did not have the space. When my time in SA ended, I returned to Qatar to start my practice all over once more. The furnished villa we rented had a tiny outside room which could just fit a massage bed and a small cupboard with a small bathroom in the suite. This became the Reflex Room. My skills had improved and the services I offered increased but space was still an issue. I believe in doing what you can with what you have. I then offered sound therapy sessions from the entrance hall close to the staircase, in the centre of the villa. This was incredibly in-efficient but the dining room, which had its entrance and was rather large, had a heavy wood, eight-seater dining room set in it and there was just no other simple solution. “But space was still an issue.” After a few months of setting up and packing up, the landlord granted the request to remove the table and create a sound healing studio in the dining room space. It was perfect. Quickly clients started contacting me again and my practice grew. I had some powerful group and private sessions in this space, especially when Covid came around and these two separate rooms provided a safe space for many struggling people. This was my last space in the Middle East and I decided that the time had come to move my practice and my household back home. Now I am back in South Africa. For the first time in over ten years of working and building and falling and crawling and standing up again, I have the perfect space for the @psychesoundsmell facility and eventually, I can settle down long-term. Working in a small area The space is a one-bedroom flat which will, starting from Monday, be converted into the mind-body healing studio. I own the building and now I can build and paint and convert to my heart’s content. I can create a space that will transport the client to another world during their healing journey. A safe space. A long-term space. And the second last stepping stone to the final manifestation and dream retreat space, which I am sure is in the not-so-distant future. I am grateful and excited and look forward to sharing more of my journey with you. Home at last. The photo was taken in the garden of the Antara Spa at Banana Island in Qatar. This is my friend Hanli, whose birthday was on that day. One of the more obscure places where I have done a sound therapy session. Healing can happen anywhere.

The Day the Tibetan Singing Bowls found me

After experiencing tremendous personal loss and nearly reaching a breaking point in 2015, I embarked on a soul-searching sabbatical that unexpectedly led me to discover Tibetan Singing Bowls. This chance encounter sparked a profound journey of healing and transformation through the mystical power of these mesmerizing instruments. Seeking Solace in South Africa Exhausted and emotionally ravaged, I left my home in Qatar for a remote hideaway on South Africa’s Western Cape. I settled into a tiny flat in the coastal village of Glencairn hoping to recover myself in silence and isolation. As the first days passed in a fog, I soon felt an inexplicable urge to visit the curious Tibetan Tea House I passed daily on my walks. Stepping into this serene space, I was enveloped by inviting aromas, spiritual symbols, and tranquil music. But my eyes locked onto the spellbinding meditation room with embroidered pillows and singing bowl arrangements that seemed to call to my weary soul. When the hostess warmly invited me to the next morning’s sound healing, I accepted immediately, unable to ignore this cosmic pull. My First Sound Bath I arrived early, settling onto a ruby cushion with a small brass bowl at its edge. As others entered, I sat motionless, intimidated to touch this glistening talisman. Finally, the hostess gently encouraged us to sound our vessels. Lifting the mallet, I attempted a timid first strike – but no resonance came. Despite this comical failure, as I gazed around at my fellow seekers lost in their own reveries, I felt a spark reignite within me. While my troubles did not instantly dissolve, something profound shifted internally that day. I began a quest to unlock the mysteries of these esoteric bowls, sensing instinctively their power to heal. That haunting first encounter ignited my enduring passion for the restorative magic of sonic meditation. As I emerged from grief’s bleak cocoon, I realized my purpose – to spread the transcendent blessings of singing bowls. Their otherworldly voices called me back to life.
